Simple Meditation for a Reset
In just a few minutes of mindful and careful breathing, you can effectively reset your day and carry on with a profound sense of calm and collective cohesion, even in the most challenging situations that life may present to you. Here’s how to practice this technique with what is commonly referred to as the “Square Breath” – this method goes by various names, but the underlying principle remains remarkably consistent. First, breathe in slowly and steadily for an even count of 4 or 5 seconds. Next, hold your breath for an additional count of 4 or 5 seconds. Then, exhale for the same 4 or 5 counts, allowing all the tension to leave your body. Finally, hold your breath again for 4 or 5 seconds before continuing this cycle. If you have the luxury of time to focus on some moving water or the soothing sound of birds chirping in the background, that would be excellent. However, if that is not an option, you can simply concentrate on your breathing – ensuring it remains slow and steady. When you experience an involuntary yawn, this is a reassuring sign that your parasympathetic nervous system has calmed and successfully reset, allowing you to connect more deeply with the present moment.
